Overland Park Personal Training

“I was introduced to Nate Bruns through a colleague at work who invited me to a workout. Exercise was something I never participated in, and I was also carrying an extra 89 lbs above my healthy body weight-so let me just say, I had a very difficult time doing even the most basic activities. However, I found it very interesting talking to Nate about the impact proper nutrition and regular exercise can have on a person in terms of not just their health, but also energy and reducing stress. It was a wake up call for me so I thought, “what if I gave making a complete lifestyle/body change everything I got-what could I do?”

Training with Nate started the first week of March 2012 and has made a huge difference in how I look and feel. In the beginning, Nate assessed where my fitness level was and then continues to adapt my routines so that my body is constantly challenged. This is also great because workouts are varied and I am never bored. Nate also listens to me and would modify exercises when I needed. Additionally, Nate always wants to know how I felt after the last workout. Finally, I like working with Nate because he has a lot of expertise and insight into nutrition and he is a true professional in his approach.

So, if you are looking to lose weight and/or thinking about hiring a personal trainer to get in shape-talk to Nate Bruns for nonstop motivation, energy and expertise – I highly recommend!!”

“A couple of months ago my wife came to me and said she was going hire a personal trainer and asked me if I wanted to come along as well. I was a bit skeptical at first since every time I had tried to work out on my own I had quicky become frustrated due to lack of measurable results and quit. After meeting Nate he listened to what I was looking for and developed a personalized training plan focusing on improving my cardiovascular fitness and building core and overall body strength. In no time at all I found out what the problem was all those years. ME ! I don’t do my own taxes, I wouldn’t try to fix my own car or re-wire my basement, instead leaving that to the professionals, but for some reason all these years when it came to the most important thing of all, my health, I thought I could do it on my own. That’s one of the great things about Nate, whether its nutrition recommendations or the exercises he not only explains the what and the how, but just as important the why. After working out with him for the last 3-months the results have been life changing. I feel and look better than I have in the last 20 years. I get stopped almost daily by friends and colleagues who want to know what I’ve been doing. The best part of all is what fun my wife and I are having working out together. Great way to release stress after a hard day. Next to marrying her, hiring Nate was the best decision I have ever made.”

“So, I stepped out of the shower one day, caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and said GROSS. I’d become grossly overweight weighing 217lbs at only 5’6” tall. With all the extra weight I had developed joint problems (osteoarthritis), on top of osteoporosis. My doctor said I need to lose weight for my joint pain and gave me the option of drugs or weight resistance training for my osteoporosis. I needed to make a decision. Enter Nate into the picture. I’ve trained with Nate for over a year now. In my opinion Nate is one of the best trainers out there. I’ve used other trainers in my quest to get fit and healthy. None of the others I’ve used have learned “who” I am, and “what” I wanted to achieve better than Nate. With my goals in mind, Nate knew more about my physical capabilities than I did, always taking me beyond what I thought I was capable of. His feedback, reliability, and consistent nature in the gym are second to none. Nate never lets me slack off in the gym, always kicking my butt, and pushing me, to levels I’d thought I would never achieve. I always tell Nate “if you haven’t kicked my butt during our sessions I won’t be happy”. Nate NEVER disappointed!! The results—I’m down to 167lbs, 16% body fat, no more joint pain, I’ve added bone mass with the weight training along with muscle, and I feel great. I now go to the gym 6 days a week, jog, take yoga classes, and overall love the journey to being fit that Nate’s been a huge part of. Feel free to contact me. Nate has my contact info.”

“It was the realization that I was about to turn the age my mom was when she had a mild heart attack that got me into the gym, but it was working with Nate Bruns that has kept me there for the last four years. Nate is very knowledgeable and committed to helping me achieve the results that are important to me. He creates workout routines that best fit me and my needs and his motivational skills are second to none. A workout with Nate is just that — a workout. But, more important — they’re also fun and the results are phenomenal and so gratifying. I often hear his words, “C’mon, you got this” in the back of my head. His words of encouragement carry over far beyond the gym. I always leave feeling better about myself, and I have Nate to thank for that. What I have learned from working with Nate is that I should have been taking care of myself all along — but it’s never too late to take control of your health and your body.”

“I read a book called “Younger Next Year for Women” by Chris Cowley and Henry Lodge, M.D. who recommended 3 times a week of strength training along with 3 times a week of cardiovascular training. At the time, I was doing yoga and walking daily. I smoked for 40 years and quit after I started personal training with Nate, and I have been smoke free for over 5 years. I was raised in times where girls did nothing athletic, and I had no experience with weights. In just a few sessions I felt better than I ever had with more energy and balance. I started to develop strength and endurance. I am a psychotherapist, but I find that personal training builds confidence, trust in oneself, the ability to shine with achievements and courage to overcome fear, procrastination and resistance in a much deeper way than talking therapy. When training, Nate connects health with exercise, developing solid habits that impact the trainee for a lifetime. I am much improved in my ability to eat right as well as take on greater exercise challenges. I am now a yoga instructor with advanced training and at 60 years old, I just completed my first half marathon. Nate assisted me to build my speed and enhanced my jogging skills. Personal training with Nate is fun, exciting, procrastination-breaking and life changing.”
